“I poisoned my skin,” — said harshly, “my lips. So that every time he touched me-” She shuddered and glanced at –. “Every time he kissed me, he took sickness into his body.” She clenched her fists. “He brought this on himself.” ~Leigh Bardugo, Ruin and Rising

The Friday 56The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. Join in every Friday, the rules are simple.

Rules: *Grab a book, any book. *Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.

*Find any sentence (or a few, just don’t spoil it) that grab you.

*Post it. *Add your (url) post here in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It’s that simple.

“I poisoned my skin,” — said harshly, “my lips. So that every time he touched me-” She shuddered and glanced at –. “Every time he kissed, he took sickness into his body.” She clenched her fists. “He brought this on himself.”

Okay, so my progress on books is slow, and I really got around to actually reading this one last week. So this is from page 156. (Names removed to avoid spoilers!)

I don’t like to feature books twice unless they deserve it, but as much as the second book in this series turned me off, this one seems to be salvaging it- so Go, Leigh Bardugo!

    1. I’m liking the third book. I think they wasted too much time in the second one on “the obligatory young adult love triangle” and now they are finally getting into the good stuff !
