“’Piper is the only well-behaved one,’ Julie says, laughing. She’s laughing because Piper is a pit bull, and everyone expects if you have a bad dog and a pit bull, they must be one and the same. ‘She’s just not what you’d expect,’ Julie says. ‘If the other dogs are in an argument, she’ll go hide in the closet.’ Not exactly the ferocious monster of repute.” ~Jennifer S. 1. The dog I have now is a pit mix, and he’s the biggest baby- great with my two year old, but afraid of random things like plastic bags fluttering in the wind….

  1. I live in Ontario, Canada where they actually have a pitbull ban. It’s ridiculous too. I had a Pitter when my children were tots, and she was the best natured, well-tempered dog you;d ever see. The Shih Tzu I have now is more vicious than Sasha could’ve even been.
It sickens me that they get a bad rep, and yet it is all in how they are raised. You can raise a Poodle to be vicious, or have a doberman be a lapdog. It’s on the handler, not the pet.
Anyway, happy weekend!! Thanks for choosing such a great book to talk about.

    1. It’s funny. My neighbor- who doesn’t know or have the patience to train a dog- owns a five pound fluffy “morky” who snaps at my daughter for no reason (other than to prove she can)… But she’s afraid of my pit-chow-German-shepherd mix, even when he’s wagging his tail and trying to kiss her face. (Although, I will give her this- he does have a scary bark) we adopted him, our big crybaby, the last day before he was put down at the city shelter, and it was heartbreaking how many pits and pit mixes are there, waiting for new homes with such a tiny hope of adoption because of how many people are afraid of them!
