Book Beginnings and Friday 56: Denton Little’s Deathdate

Denton Little’s Deathdate, by Lance Rubin

Book Beginnings (a la Rose City Reader)

“I don’t think this is my bed. It’s hard to know for sure, as my head is in excruciating pain, but there’s something about this bed that doesn’t feel like me. It’s got extra fluff.”

First Impression: Okay, so we have a drunk boy waking up in a girl’s bed, right?

The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. Join in every Friday, the rules are simple.

Rules: *Grab a book, any book. *Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.

*Find any sentence (or a few, just don’t spoil it) that grab you.

*Post it. *Add your (url) post here in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It’s that simple.

“‘It’s funny, Denton actually said you guys broke up.’ She’s laughing a little, but her eyes are aimed at me and doing the opposite of what laughing is.”

    1. It kind of is… But the book reads very much like those crazy teen movies from the ’80’s (think Ferris Bueller and especially some of those weirder ones John Cusack started out in).

  1. Hi – Both the beginning and the 56% blurb make me want to know more about this book. Well done with your initial thought, too. Didn’t sound like it was his bed and if it’s fluffier, it’s probably a girl’s bed. She’s taking care of him or at least letting him sleep it off. 🙂
