Friday 56

The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. Join in every Friday, the rules are simple.

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence (or a few, just don’t spoil it) that grab you.
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post here in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It’s that simple.

***And it can be quite rewarding! I picked this book off my shelf at random and found cash I had left in there years ago!

Gregor the Overlander, by Suzanne Collins

“The place did kind of resemble a locker room if locker rooms were gorgeous and smelled good. Exotic sea creatures were carved into the walls, and oil lamps cast a golden glow.”

    1. I really enjoyed it and plan on using it as the first books to try and explain the concept and repercussions of war to my daughter, when she’s older (she’s barely one now!) Despite the fact that it’s a kid’s story, it gets into some pretty complex ideas, without oversimplifying . The real question is: could you handle a pair of human-sized cock roaches as heroes? That’s where most people get uncomfortable!

    1. I definitely recommend them… As long as you can get over the heroic roaches, I mentioned in my other comment… The rats & the bats don’t seem as much of an obstacle to people!

  1. Cha-ching!!! 😀 Couldn’t help myself. Bet that was an awesome feeling finding that cash!
I’ve never heard of this series, but like the author! I’m gonna check it out, for sure!
    Happy weekend!

    1. I used to keep my lunch money in my books- since I read during my lunch break, but this was something else! On page 50, and $60. Definitely a message! Thanks for finding my money, Freda!
