The Dust Jacket: The Weekly List, November 10th to November 16th

Another week of events up for grabs in the Big Apple, as usual, too many to choose from.

I have to be honest, I’m too much of a scaredy-cat to have even tried one of Stephen King’s books yet, but I saw him speak at a panel a few years ago at the New Yorker Festival, and he was one the most gracious, well-informed people I have ever had the pleasure to hear speak in person. If it’s an option with my schedule, I’d glad be one of those people in line to hear hear him speak again, this Tuesday, at Barnes ands Noble- whether or not I ever get the nerve to read his stuff!

I don’t know anything about Thomas Hauser, but I did a school report on Dickens that really stuck me (not in the most flattering of terms, honestly), so I would also love to hear Mr. Hauser elaborate on a subject I know to be more interesting than you’d have thought, based on a cursory glance at Dicken’s bio.

Do I have to say anything about Margaret Atwood? Because, really, she’s Margaret Atwood!

I’ve seen Tiphanie Yanique speak as part of a panel before, and she had already, obviously, been quite the inspiration to me!

And, for something totally different, this weekend there is a Moby Dick Marathon, where various performers read segments from Herman Melville’s classic…. alllllllll weekend long.
