The Dust Jacket: The Weekly List, November 3rd to November 9th

So, as always, New York serves up a lot of options: the wrist banded events from Barnes and Noble, which mean that you have to arrive extremely early, possibly in the morning, to pick up the book and get the “right color” wristband to guarantee space in the event: Martin Short, John Cleese, Jimmy Page.

The one I am itching to get to would be Emily St. John Mandel at Pete’s Candy. Aside from the fact that there’s a candy store that hosts a weekly book/poetry event (yum?), I have read so much about Emily St. John Mandel’s Station Eleven– not only can I not wait to get my hands on it, but in an interview, she also remained reluctant to quit her day job as an administrative something despite that the hype for her latest release. That’s a real world perspective I’d like to hear represented.
